The defending Stanley Cup Champions made many a move after winning the Cup in June. Not soon after, the club traded Dustin Byfulglien, Ben Eager, Brent Sopel and Akim Aliu to the Atlanta Thrashers for Marty REasoner, Joseph Crabb, Jeremy Morin and a 1st round draft pick (which ended up being the 24th overall pick) and a 2nd round pick (which ended up being the 54th overall selection). The team was then a part of a 5-player trade with the Toroto Maple Leafs sending Kris Versteeg for Viktor Stalbert, Chris DiDomenico, Philippe Paradis and 21-year old left winger Bill Sweatt.
With the first half of the season behind them, the team is looking for more consistency and effort in the second half. "This is a huge month for us, considering the amount of home games we've got. We weren't as good as we want to be at home in the first half of the season, so that's something we want to change, and it's an advantage to have this month to turn that around,” Center Jonathan Toews said recently.
